The inaugural exhibition 'Embodiment' will present new works by four artists, Crawfurd Adamson, Caroline Burraway, Darvish Fakhr and Zachary Walsh.

Though born in Edinburgh in 1953, Crawfurd Adamson moved to Hastings in 1987 where he has lived and worked ever since. He has devoted most of his working practice to the study and development of life drawing not only through his own work but also through the practical establishment of workshops, attended by artists with similar considerations. He has exhibited widely throughout the UK, Europe and USA in both solo and group exhibitions since the early 1980's and his work is held in numerous private, corporate and institutional collections worldwide including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and The Fleming Collection, London.
A recent graduate of St. Martin's School of Art, London (2006), Caroline Burraway has since collaborated with a number of charities and hospitals to produce a body of work which confronts the viewer with stark images of people in society we have become unwilling to see. Derived from film footage she produced of terminally ill patients, seemingly in the last gasp of life, her huge charcoal drawings are handled with extraordinary aplomb through her technical mastery of the medium. Her avoidance of the use of aesthetics as much as her selection of subject matter goes to produce imagery that is stark, oppressive but highly potent and charged.

An artist of American/Iranian descent, Darvish Fakhr graduated from the Slade School of Art (1997) and has been included in numerous group exhibitions devoted to contemporary portraiture most notably the BP Award, National Portrait Gallery, London, which he has participated in six times since graduation, and was the Travel award winner in 2004. Fakhr's subjects are drawn from family, friends and acquaintances, which he installs in everyday street scenes, interiors and landscapes both in his adoptive England and in Iran.
Originally from Manchester, Zachary Walsh graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art (1999). A figurative painter in the truest sense he adopts minimalist abstract backgrounds into which he installs his carefully composed figures. As a result of this juxtaposition his compositions radiate a rare sense of calm and mystery. He has exhibited widely in the UK as well as in France, Mexico and Ireland and is represented in private collections worldwide.
