Frixos Papantoniou

Cyprus-born artist Frixos Papantoniou studied Fine Art at Kingston University and at the Institute of Education , University of London . In Cyprus his work is included in a number of private and public collections. Frixos has exhibited widely throughout the UK in solo and group shows, notably his work was included in Pastels Today, at the Mall Galleries and at the Sefton Open at the Atkinson Art Gallery where he was awarded a runner up prize. Also, he was the 2003 winner of the BDC Studio Award for Wellmade 3, at Fresh Art. Most recently his work was short-listed for the Celeste Art Prize.

Frixos produces work of exceptional beauty and stillness. The form of each work is revealed to the artist through a gradual process of layering where the internal logic of the piece unfolds until a balance is achieved and the emotional content is exposed. The artists' vision is gentle and his interest is not to instruct the viewer in what they should feel about his work. Therefore these attractive works are cool and tender, with a depth that comes from closer inspection and deeper understanding.
