Barbara Steinberg studied at Yale University and at California University . She began her career as a painter, but then spent twenty years as a sculptor. After moving to London she continued to exhibit and receive commissions throughout the UK . Her solo shows include the Queens Hall Edinburgh, Phillips Gallery and the Allsop Gallery. She has also exhibited in a large number of group shows in London .
More recently Barbara's interest in landscape has drawn her back to painting. Initially her works were representational but over time they have evolved into a painterly abstract style that has the potency to depict not only the light and colour of a place but also seems to look further into another plane of legend, myth and dream. Barbara's recent works, that we are showing, are remarkable for their power and vibrancy. |
